To Honor Our Heroines on This International Women’s Day
My daughter Liv is one of many women heroes in my life. She is so kind, thoughtful, creative, caring, and witty. At 11 years old, she's sharp as a tack and already 5’8 ft tall. She has mommy's face and my body frame.
Despite of a lifelong full of obstacles for being a woman writer in the 19th century, she endured a powerful and fearless life without any excuses to become one of the best poets in America and female poets in the world history.
Great Grandmothers, Grandmother & Great Aunt
The women in this photo are my Great Grandmothers, Grandmother, and Great Aunt. They overcame tremendous hardship, lived through two world wars, and raised a generation of strong independent women. I stand on their shoulders and wouldn’t be where I am without them.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg
There’s a lot to admire about Notorious RBG. One aspect that garners my fascination was her time at Harvard Law School. She excelled as a student, raised Jane and managed to care for her sick husband. It’s almost she like she graduated with two law degrees!
She had very challenging childhood –as well as a drug addiction and trouble with the law as an adult. She still managed to become one of Jazz music’s all time greats. She reminds me that what is within us is stronger than the challenges on the outside.
My girlfriend, Heather Riley, is my daily inspiration. Her career-oriented, driven personality, and success in her career inspires me daily to set and achieve goals as a person and in my career.
